General Information

Welcome to (PPGEE) at Ufes

  • This research line develops studies in modeling and implementation of devices as well as systems related to Communications in the electrical and optical domain. The works focus on: 1) Optical devices (eg fiber lasers, amplifiers, microwave photonics); 2) Communications systems, such as modulation formats, multiple access techniques, radio over fiber, power line communications); 3) Networks (more specifically, optical networks - access and transport, wireless networks, datacenter networks); 4) Sensing (eg internet of things, optical and optoelectronic sensors, biomedical applications, nanotechnology); 5) Theory of Applied Graphs (such as: design and analysis of topologies, invariant and centrality measures, allocation problems, routing and location, applications in smart grids)

  • The major topics addressed in this research line are Mobile Robotics, Rehabilitation Robotics, and Assistive Technology. The mobile platforms used are wheeled differential drive robots, robotic wheelchairs, and aerial robots. On the other hand, rehabilitation robotics is mainly based on robotic walkers and exoskeletons. In relation to assistive technology, researches are conducted about sensors and devices to help mobility, rehabilitation and communication of people with disabilities. Regarding Mobile Robotics, the main research items are control of wheeled mobile robots, working solely or in a cooperative way, as well as control of the navigation of rotorcraft machines, also navigating solely or in a formation, and computer vision techniques applied to the navigation of such vehicles.

  • This research line deals with the analysis and development of static converters such as switch-mode power supplies, inverters, uninterrupted power supplies, among others, for various industrial applications, electrical machine drives, power quality issues, as well as applied to renewable energies. It also encompasses strategic energy processing and planning, extending to related areas, such as superconductivity and its applications, renewable energy generation systems, power distribution planning, power management, distributed generation and correlated new protection paradigms, and smart grids.

General Information
The Postgraduate Program in Electrical Engineering is based at the Center for Technology of the Federal University of Espírito Santo. The master's and doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering were established in 1991 and 1996, respectively, aiming to:
Promote the improvement of scientific and professional qualifications in electrical engineering;
Prepare high-level specialized personnel to work in electrical engineering and related fields within the public and private sectors;
Provide higher education teacher training;
Articulate research-related activities and education, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in order to expand the research groups/centers;
Create a space for the sharing of ongoing research, by hosting regional, national and international events (seminars, conferences, round tables, etc.).

The program is based in Vitória-ES, offering the course of MSc in Electrical Engineering since 1991 e the course of DSc in Electrical Engineering since 1997 and has an academic qualification profile certified by CAPES, receiving 5 on its last evaluation.

The program already has 467 masters and 167 doctors and counts with 129 students regularly enrolled, being 78 in the masters and 51 in the doctorate.
